I want to use Allow, BUT… I have a client with an older site, built in Rapidweaver 8, using the Endeavor theme by Michael David Design. (I know… I’m already doomed.)
Is there a version of Alloy or other Blog stack suite that will work in this environment?
If not:
Will Foundry 3 work in Rapidweaver 8?
Can I override one page in the site with a Foundry 3 theme, to use Alloy?
Does Elixir have an alternative Blog solution for this situation or should I just stop building sites for clients and become a greeter at Walmart?
Thank you so much! I’m always hesitant to try something this different, not to mention the investment. I love the look and flexibility of Alloy. You did a great job developing it, and I need to just ‘take the leap’ and give it a try. Thanks!
I’m trying to purchase Foundry 3 and Alloy 3, and I having issues while checking out. I can’t check out with PayPal or credit card. It won’t let me enter credit card info or allow me to use PayPal. PayPal is my preference. Can you please make sure the site is working properly and let me know if there are other options? Thank you!!!
Got it! I had to purchase each item separately. It appears that the ‘check out’ process was a different format for each purchase. Adam, thank you for creating these robust products!
Can Alloy blog features be used without using the ‘Editor’ (remote entry) feature? Can some of the blog entries be done remotely, using Editor, and some entered directly through Rapidweaver?
I’m not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish, but …
When I use Alloy I write the blog entries in my favorite MD editor (in my case it’s Ia Writer, but it could be any markdown editor of your choice). So I use the web editor to paste in my content (already in MD format) and add the needed little bits: dates, categories, and so on. Works very nicely for me … and I have a natural backup of the important parts of the blog.
Alloy is outstandingly good. I’ve implemented it for three separate blog functions on my website (a podcast site, articles and a premium site behind some other code). Honestly, it’s great if you’re after a simple and flexible way to get a flexible blog that’s easy to maintain, with plenty of options in there.
You might hit a few limitations, but Adam’s support and responsiveness at @elixirgraphics is typically prompt and helpful, with suggestions or a straightforward “sorry, can’t be done.”
Once set up, it’s very good and easy to maintain for a professional looking and easily customisable blog, in my view. I’m not an advanced developer and even I’m in control of my own site blog!
The editor is very easy to use and flexible, once you have it set up, in my experience. Nice look and feel and easy to use - with great support for any issues encountered.
Provide us a copy of your project file please, along with a copy of your PHP error log file.
Create a ZIP file containing your project file. This is the file you open in RapidWeaver to edit your site. After creating the ZIP file, upload it using a service like Dropbox, WeTransfer, Droplr, or a similar service to create download link for us. Paste that download link in your reply or send it to me in a DM.
