It’s my understanding that I should include a sitemap to improve my site’s SEO. Can anyone please advise the best way to include a sitemap in a discreet (ideally hidden) way, that will not detract from its function?

RapidWeaver will generate a sitemap for you. The setting for this can be found in the Advanced settings in RapidWeaver:

If you want to take it a step further, you can add SEO Helper Stacks (third party) and create an extra page in your project which you don’t show in Navigation (General Settings). You should upload your site map in Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
The Foundry stack ‘Site Map’ is meant to help the visitors, rather than improve your site’s SEO.
