How to archive a news page in Alloy

I have an Alloy news page which fills up over the course of a year and needs to be archived (frozen, non-editable) and replaced with a brand new active Alloy page that starts the new year. I could start by duplicating the present news page, and have discovered that it is possible in the Alloy stack to specify a new folder for the posts (eg posts2), but when it comes to the folder structure of the Alloy section of the site I am nervous about what changes to make in case the editor page cannot write to my new location. Is there anywhere a guide to the changes one has to make in order to achieve this?

Alloy is a pretty traditional blog, doing things how blogs normally work. Blogs don’t generally have an archived section. The blog itself is an ongoing archive.
